PARIS President Franois Hollande announced Saturday that he and his companion, Valrie Trierweiler, had formally ended their relationship, bringing to a close a two-week-long melodrama that began with a glossy magazines report of an affair with an actress and Ms. Trierweilers emotional collapse over the disclosure.

In a brief statement to the news agency Agence France-Presse, Mr. Hollande said he was making it known that I have ended the shared life I had with Valrie Trierweiler.

He noted that he was speaking as a private individual and not as the French president in keeping with his insistence, since reports about an affair became public, that it was a private matter and no business of the news media or the French public.

Private affairs are dealt with in private, he said in his Jan. 14 news conference as he ducked questions from journalists about his personal life.

The separation will leave the president living as a single man, and France will no longer have a de facto first lady. Although there is no official title of first lady in France, Ms. Trierweiler had filled that role, accompanying Mr. Hollande at official functions and traveling with him on state visits. Their relationship began in 2005.

Ms. Trierweiler, a journalist, will return to private life, but it was not clear whether she would go back to journalism.

The announcement came, as Mr. Hollande had promised it would, ahead of an official trip to Washington, planned for Feb. 10, during which he will spend time with President Obama, be honored at a state dinner and then go on to San Francisco to meet with business leaders.

The magazine, Closer, published photographs of Mr. Hollande visiting an apartment building where the actress, Julie Gayet, 41, lived, and it made known to the public details of the presidents private life, which were already circulating among French journalists and close associates. One photograph showed the president, his face obscured by a motorcycle helmet, on a motor scooter at the Paris apartment building. Another showed him walking out of the building.

When Ms. Trierweiler saw the magazines photographs, she had an emotional collapse, according to her staff, and was hospitalized for more than a week. Since her release from the hospital last Saturday, she has been staying at a presidential residence outside Paris.

She and Mr. Hollande did not live in the presidential palace but in Ms. Trierweilers Left Bank apartment, and it was not yet clear where each would live now. However, the French news media was reporting that Ms. Trierweiler would return to her apartment and Mr. Hollande would live for the time being in the presidential palace.

Mr. Hollandes announcement came as Ms. Trierweiler was preparing to leave for India on behalf of a charity with which she had been active.

Neither Mr. Hollande nor Ms. Trierweiler has spoken to the media on the record, so neither of their versions of the breakup is public. It seems likely that sooner or later at least one of them will speak about it.

Also unclear is Mr. Hollandes relationship with Ms. Gayet and whether she may eventually succeed Ms. Trierweiler as Mr. Hollandes companion.

I started to assemble it and realized that one of the chrome metal wine glass holder racks had a screw hole that wasn't drilled through so I couldn't screw it on to the wood. Called the company who shipped it, which at the time was justwineracks.com, and they sent me a complete new set of wine glass holder racks without a problem. (Now I have two extra.)Easy to assemble, but you'll want a cordless screw driver. I installed mine in about 30 minutes and used the wall mount option. Originally I wanted to hang from the ceiling, but I resolute it didn't want to have to go through the trouble of finding the studs etc. so I hung it on the cabinet next to the sink. Perfect.It holds nine medium size wine glasses, 3 in each wine glass holder but glasses including generous bases will not fit.Extremely sturdy using the wall mount option, not worried about loading it including wine bottles on the top.Overall I'm extremely happy including this order, it looks really nice and is a nice interval saver.

After suffering tremendous disappointment at her last two Summer Olympics, Lolo Jones has set out to make the US Womens Bobsled team for this years Winter Olympics in Sochi. A few days ago, this article was penned to outline some of the various reasons why Lolo Jones would not enjoy success as a member of the United States Womens Bobsled Team. This article, however, outlines the reasons why Jones will enjoy success.

Track Experience and Raw Athleticism

Lolo Jones isnt an unknown athlete trying to walk onto the bobsledding team; she is a two-time Olympian sprinter. Being a sprinter, those skills should correlate quite nicely to the pusher position that she is trying to fill, only lacking some sport-specific training and education. She certainly can (and already has) adapt her training and conditioning program to make it suit bobsledding needs, so the only thing standing in her way is the knowledge that comes with bobsledding (i.e. when to stop pushing and when to hop in and hold on). Luckily for her, these are things that can be taught and learned, unlike raw athleticism and talent.

Work Ethic

Some of her own potential teammates have commented on how solid her work ethic is and how much time, energy, and devotion she puts into it. These teammates are the same ones she is competing with to earn one of the three spots available, so that alone should be enough to illustrate the positive effect she is having on her team.

If Jones is not fortunate enough to earn a spot on the Olympic team, she should rest easy knowing that all of her hard work and energy was not in vain. It pushed the other members of that team to be better, to work that much harder to better themselves, and she should be proud of that.

That Stupid Chip

The same chip has been on her shoulder since the Olympics in Beijing and London. The same one that has prevented her from realizing her Olympic dream of winning a medal. She isnt going to want to wait until the next Summer Olympics to acquire a medal. If given the chance, this is where she is going to do it in Sochi.

There is something to be said about the way the Olympic Games are structured, only occurring every four years, and what it does to an athlete who didnt achieve what he/she thought they should. When Jones clipped that hurdle on her way to a certain gold medal, the thoughts she must have had about having to wait another four years for another chance at realizing her dream had to be the absolute worst feeling of her life. The motivation this failure must generate is staggering, and she will use it to her benefit.

Prior Olympic Experience

Say what you want about Lolo Jones being an unsuccessful and overrated Olympian. It may very well be true, but it doesnt matter here. Shes an Olympian, plain and simple. Its not her first rodeo, having competed on the worlds biggest stage twice before, which can allow her to channel her prior Olympic experiences to become an asset for some of the less experienced (but potentially more qualified) teammates. This is one area in which Jones can create a positive from her negative experience that will help her and her teammates prepare for the upcoming attention that they will be receiving.

Prior Success

This entire experience isnt something that Lolo Jones has taken lightly. Shes devoted upwards of two years to pursuing this dream, training with the team, and ultimately earning a spot on the World Cup circuit. Shes competed in a handful of events to date, enjoying success twice, including a silver medal most recently at an event in Germany.

Shes already proven that she can compete with the best, albeit on a much smaller stage, but what else can she do to prove her capabilities at this point? Unfortunately for Jones, the decision isnt up to her. Shes done her part to make her case and the only thing she can do at this point is wait. She wont have to wait for long, as the members of the Olympic team will be formally announced on January 19, 2014.

Bought these hooks at a restaurant suppy shop on the Bowery in New York City. Splendid strip of restaurant give stores in that area but you must do some thrifty shopping because prices have a generous swing to them from high to low. One of the best in pricing was the Bowery Restaurant Give Store on the Northeast corner of Bowery and Delancey Sts. There the title-holder Mr. Peter Chang has splendid prices on many items. These hooks ran for $2.50 a pop but if you buy a certain amount he can discount them to $1.75. I bought 30 because I have two 6 tiered wire racks measuring 72"long X 18" deep. These hooks hold all my fry pans, ladles, measuring cups and just about any hand utensil with a hook hole at the end. What is also splendid about these "J" pot hooks is that they don't slip off as you reach for no matter what you need to use, they stay put. Mr. Chang's store caters to mostly restaurants but sells to the all-purpose public as well. Not a big variety in color but plenty of quality items the majority in stainless steel. Very antiseptic looking equipment but built to take years of punishment from restaurant operations so you know you're getting quality here. Give them a shot if you're in that area of NYC and need kitchen supplies. Very helpful staff if you need to locate your items. Although small in walkway space they are prepared to the rafters. Any chef would find this place a tremendous bargain to behold.

Clemson defeats Ohio State to win 2014 Discover Orange Bowl

They sold this year's Discover Orange Bowl as an offensive showcase featuring two of the best quarterbacks in college football.

Clemson's Tajh Boyd threw for 378 yards, five touchdowns and ran for 127 yards and another score. Ohio State's Braxton Miller accounted for 269 total yards and four scores. And Tigers receiver Sammy Watkins set an Orange Bowl record with 227 yards and a BCS-bowl record with 16 catches.

But in the end, it was Clemson linebacker and leading tackler Stephone Anthony who got the last word, picking off Miller with 1:18 to play and sealing the Tigers 40-35 victory in front of 72,080 at Sun Life Stadium.

I want to say thank you to our fans. It's been 32 years since we won the Orange Bowl, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said. Two years ago, we got our butts kicked on this field [70-33 to West Virginia].

In the locker room that night it was a down night. I told the team it's been 30 years since we've been to the Orange Bowl and it won't be 30 years before we get back. Nobody two years ago on that night would have said we'd be 22-4 since then.

Despite Boyd's huge night, Watkins took home MVP honors for Clemson. The Fort Myers native considered the top draft-eligible receiver in the country put on a show against a beat-up Buckeyes secondary in what turned out to be one of the best Orange Bowls in recent memories. There were five lead changes -- three in the fourth quarter -- and six turnovers between the teams.

We made enough mistakes to probably lose the game tonight, said Swinney, whose team turned it over twice including a Boyd interception with 1:27 to play at the Clemson 48-yard line. But Tajh Boyd is the winningest quarterback in the history of this school. He put a legacy on it tonight and Sammy Watkins was Sammy Watkins.

Watkins gave all the credit to his quarterback.

Weve been together for three years, Watkins said. We definitely have chemistry on that offense. He did a great job delivering the ball.

The victory notched back-to-back 11-win seasons for Clemson (11-2) for the first time in school history and scored a big win for the Atlantic Coast Conference, which improved to 4-12 all-time in BCS bowl games.

Florida State (13-0) will have a chance to improve that record when it takes on Auburn (12-1) for the national championship Monday in Pasadena, Calif.

Ohio State, making its record ninth BCS bowl appearance and first since 2010, dropped its second game in a row and fell to 12-2 after beginning the Urban Meyer era 24-0.

It was a bitter end to the season for the Buckeyes. A month ago they were in position to play Florida State before they lost to Rose Bowl winner Michigan State in the Big Ten championship game.

Its going to sting for a while, probably a long while, because we just didnt finish, and it was right there to finish, Meyer said of the season. If youd have told me when I walked out of that team meeting [two years ago] that this group would buy in and wed go on a nice run and have the highest scoring offense in program history, 24 straight wins and all that, Id have looked at you and said youre out of your mind.

Miller, who injured his throwing shoulder on the first of five Clemson sacks, turned it over three times and all of them were costly. But it was Corey Brown's fumble on a punt return which hurt most.

Leading 29-20, Ohio State had all the momentum before Brown muffed the punt and Clemson's Robert Smith pounced on it at the Buckeyes 33 with 3:35 left in the third quarter.

Watkins cashed it in for Clemson three plays and 49 seconds later when he leaped over a defender in the end zone to haul in a 30-yard touchdown catch, his second of the night. The score trimmed Ohio State's lead to 29-27.

Moments later, Miller made his first mistake of the night when his third down pass was picked off by freshman safety Jayron Kearse as he was falling out of bounds at the Buckeyes' 38.

Three plays later, receiver Martavis Bryant fought off a pass interference penalty and made a spectacular three-yard touchdown catch on a deflected ball in the corner of the end zone to put Clemson back in front 34-29 with 32 seconds left in the third quarter.

The Buckeyes responded and took a 35-34 lead when Miller connected with running back Carlos Hyde on a 14-yard touchdown pass with 11:35 to play.

But Boyd answered. He led the Tigers on a 13-play 75-yard scoring drive and cashed in with a five-yard touchdown pass to tight end Stanton Steckinger with 6:16 remaining.

The true spirit of a champion comes when he is down, Boyd said. And this team, all we do is compete; we keep working and find a way to get it done.

Boyd finished 31 of 40 passing for 378 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. It was his 18th career 300-yard game, tying him with Phillip Rivers for the ACC record.

At kickoff, it was 62 degrees inside Sun Life Stadium, much warmer than in Clemson, S.C. (32 degrees) and Columbus, Ohio (10 degrees).

The Tigers looked right at home, marching 75 yards and six plays and taking a quick 7-0 lead on Boyd's career-long 48-yard touchdown run.

Clemson led 20-9 midway through the second quarter before Miller engineered two scoring drives and the Buckeyes took a 22-20 lead into the half.

This item is a centerpiece in my lavender themed kitchen. There are two photos publicized, one with a 4 pot holder, the following with a 5 pot holder. The item I received is the 4 pot holder, as described in the title. It is very heavy, and very beautiful. The schooner beads are a nice road to add depth, and the leaves are a lovely shade of conservational. It's prettier in person. It comes with the vine pot holders seperate. You have to glue them with bolts and screws that are included. Be guaranteed to do this before you mount it to the roadblock. I put it together and mounted it all by myself using an thrilling drill in less than 30 outline. And I'm not very clever. My release concern was that the amount arrived with one end open, and the larger amount it was in was smashed on one end. Most likely the fault of the manner of speaking service. Though, most of the bolts and screws were loose. I did recover all of them. The mounts are obvious, save for overall I love it. It's a great addendum to my kitchen. And a fair fee, taking into account other similar items.
